Me gusta mucho el estilo de esta serie, aunque me parece que este primer libro es mucho más triste que la película. Hay más nostalgia y como tristeza aquí.

I first learned of Lemony Snicket (i.e. Daniel Handler)'s A Series of Unfortunate Events in undergrad, of all places. I don't remember the specific class, but whatever English class it was, the instructor and a couple students raved about it for nearly ten minutes. “It's the funniest thing ever,” th...

Lame. That's the best word for this book. Think of a poor, mangy dog with tufts of his hair missing and his skin underneath bloodied and raw, who has a mangled forepaw--say, it was run over by a motorcycle--and think of him limping along, keening in misery, dragging his paw and hopping every few inc...

I've always wanted to read this series and now, I've finished the first book. So, yay me! Hahahahaha... Anyway, I liked it. It's different from my preferred children's books. It's not humorous, nor is it colorful and colorful. But I liked it. There were just things that concerned me. First, the way ...

Read originally when I was younger, re-reading now for nostalgia. This is an example of telling rather than showing (in some instances) where it actually works.

To Beatrice-- darling, dearest, dead.Wait. What??Ever since I watched the Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, I've been dying to read the book. Yes, I know I probably loved the movie so much because of Jim Carrey (huge fan). I mean look at him! How can you NOT love it?? I wish the Co...

The writing style drew me in and I read this in one sitting. I'm not really sure how to describe this book other than to say it was enjoyable, well-written, and would be very helpful for sneakily teaching vocabulary. ;) A lovely little short read. I look forward to reading the rest of this series, a...

I LOOOOOOOVE THISBOOK SERIES!! I mean how come they never made a second movie adaptation! I found the movie awesome! I mean. Yeah. (nothing will beat the Harry Potter series, of course).
