Without spoiling the ending, I can tell you that this book ends on a bittersweet note. It is a story of a young boy, wrought with jealousy over a life he feels he is not welcome to, only to discover it could be his greatest loss. Truly, the heart of this story is a beautiful tale that nearly anyon...

I like fairytales/myths/legends and that's basically what this is- a mishmash a various legends but not at all as you know them.Very dark and twisted.Just a very fun read.I really enjoyed the notes in the back of the various fairytales that have been incorporated into the book.

4.5 stars to be exact. I love the way this book was told. But there are parts I'm not satisfied with - that's why 4.5 stars.

Warning: This is not a children's book. It includes several too brutal scenes to be read for kids. I was told that this is a fairy tale for adult. I was expecting something like [b:Momo|68811|Momo|Michael Ende|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1170700281s/68811.jpg|517524], but it failed to meet my expec...

One of, if not my top book of the year so far. Well thought out, with nods towards the best know fairy tales and mythology, while creating a single coherent tale that made me feel like both a child and an adult at once. I am SO glad I picked this pretty little book up.

I appreciate the aesthetics and ode to folklore that Connolly attempted to evoke here, but for me, this story really fell flat."The Book of Lost Things" is a story about a young boy named David who gets spirited away into a dark fairy tale world after hearing the voice of his dead mother beckoning h...

This one of those books that I kept imagining page by page would get better. The story is about a young boy, David, who loses his mother to an unknown sickness; and happens early on. This part of the book was well written and I could relate to his creation of rituals to try and make things right. ...

Author John Connolly is well known for thrillers such as The Unquiet, but he flows more heavily into fantasy and fairy tales for The Book of Lost Things. Still, these fairy tale characters remind the reader of Grimm creatures and the story itself is dark and chilling. The main character, David, is a ...
