I totally get why people love this. It's a very original, vivid, and shocking retelling. It's dark and gritty with a lot of real consequences and high stakes. The characters are all fleshed out with realistic motivations and actions. However, it just wasn't for me. I just didn't feel it.
I've gotten out of the habit of writing reviews for whatever I'm reading because it usually involves me staring at the computer screen and forgetting every single detail of the book. That’s not the case for The Child Thief, however. I can’t seem to stop thinking about this one so Review Time it is. ...
Once upon a time there was a boy named Peter, who never grew up. He lived in the magical world of Neverland, where children could do whatever they wanted and there were no grown-ups to take away their fun or remind them of their worldly responsibilities.Oh, Peter Pan. You were such a wonderful book/...

I am stuck between 4 and 5 stars on this one. What a great book. I need to gather my thoughts before reviewing this but, wow, this book is something very different and mostly very good.
Holy fucking shit!!!!!Brom..you are a twisted genius. Who would have known Peter Pan is dark and evil. Thiis is 110% definitely MY type of book. Darkly twisted, plenty of Gore,an army of flesh-eaters, a sick humor and evil reverends. How can you say that's not kickass???Plus Peter is such a remark...
3 reasons which did prompt me to read this book were as follows.Chinese immigrant, Vancouver/Canada and to be honest the book cover. The book is divided into three sections, somthing that you won't realise until you start each section. Three of the four children from the household have each their own...
The Child ThiefI never read Barrie’s original Peter Pan and I never managed to sit through one of the movie adaptations. I was doubtful whether the story might appeal to me at all, but I wanted to like Brom’s take on it so much. The first two pages of the prologue almost had me put the book aside. T...

As a child, I was enchanted by Snow White, and the Brother Grimm’s tales of unfortunate kids and terrible...
I don't know how I feel about this book.As a child fairy tales creeped me out. Who wouldn't be with wolves killing and eating grandmas, people being shoved in ovens, talking pigs.....wooden boys.....eek. I wasn't even fond of Santa. So it shouldn't have been any surprise to me that I wasn't all tha...
