All her young life she has tried to please her father, never quite realizing that, as a girl, she never could. One of the books that anyone should read.

Fantastic! An absorbing story. Read it in one day and could start re-reading again right this minute.

Incredible and moving, this book made me cry practically the whole way through Celie's story will break your heart. And the reunion with her sister will heal it. I could not put this book down and read it in a day. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I saw the movie as a teenager and was very impressed by it, so either my opinion has changed over the years (likely) or I just wasn't too keen on the writing style (also very likely). However, it's one of tho...
