Audiobook. I really enjoyed the narration, however this was not quite what I was expecting from the story. I've been watching Haven on Syfy and wanted to read the book that it was based on, The Colorado Kid. It was nothing at all like the TV show. It was a good story, but not even something I would ...
So this is the first "hard case" crime story that I've ever read. That being said, I'm not entirely sure what the genre is supposed to look or feel like. I have some impressions from other pulpy type stories that I've seen in film, but no novels. The Colorado Kid concerns the discovery of a body on ...
My wife, an avid King fan, has been desperate for me to read this book, and one weekend, when faced with about twenty hours of painting, we listened to this. It's been a month since listening to this, and I'm struggling to remember details or anything more specific than 'it was okay'. I'm not sure i...
Even average Stephen King is worth reading. I'd call The Colorado Kid, a short novel (almost a novella) a notch above average, maybe 3.5 stars. It's not really a "hard-boiled" mystery, though, and I don't know why it's labeled as such. That sultry dame on the cover is pretty misleading; the story is ...
Well, that was a very quick read.Given away Dec 8, 2011, because Louise's husband really wanted it and I thought it was okay, but not *that* good. May it have found a good home. :)
So glad I stuck with this one. Once the book FINALLY got around to discussing the Colorado Kid, it captured my interest and held it. As a fan of the tv show Haven, which is very loosely based on this book, I had a wee fangirl moment when a character named George "Wournos" showed up. :) Anyway, to th...
I can't believe how such a short book can make so much of an impression! Once again Stephen King decided to delect us with his finest. I'm left with the image of the Colorado Kid on that beach for some days from now on!
Well the book is a typical mystery with an open end. The reader must decide how to end the srory. Usually when I read a book a prefer to know how it ends, in this case who is the killer, although there is no way to find out. I liked it and it's actually my very first Stephen King's book.
i ranted about this on somebody else's review of the book, and found i had articulated my own review, essentially. so here it is (with minor edits) between asterisks:***************************************i like a lot of stephen king novels. i read him later, except for reading the stand and the shi...
