this was interesting, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the other Discworld books

This was my first experience with Terry Pratchett, although I’d seen enough comments about Discworld to have a general idea of what to expect. I was skeptical about reading it, because I knew it employs the type of humor that I just don’t seem to properly appreciate, but I was also curious about it...

I've read The Color of Magic a total of three times and each time I've rated it differently. The book starts out strong, but near the end it kind of fizzles out. After three readings however, the ending isn’t as much of a letdown as it was previously. It’s not laugh out loud funny, but it is humorou...

I'm not feeling the love for Discworld I was expecting. The color of Magic was weird, and the not-all-that-interesting story wasn't enough to help get me past weird. I'm not giving up though, too many I respect put Terry Pratchett on a pedestal. Plus, I have Wee Free Men ready to go. I hear that o...

Two points - if the author is from England, shouldn't it be The Colour of Magic? And I can't tell if I got a slightly glitched copy of the e-book or if there were deliberate mistakes with oddly placed and/or missing quotation marks. Someone recommended the Discworld series to me a while ago and in...

The thing about this isn't the brilliant with and humor. It is the humanity all the way from curiosity to insurance fraud to hatred to loyalty. Now, if someone could invent the Luggage, I would be thrilled.

Hilarious fun, as it reminded me of Adams' Hitchhiker's series (which I also loved). The mis-adventures of Rincewind and Twoflower had me laughing out loud in the wild Discworld. I am definitely looking forward to more Pratchett adventures in the future.

Back when I was in high school, before I discovered Stephen King, I read a lot of humorous fantasy. Piers Anthony was an author I read frequently, and after I joined the Science Fiction Book Club, I discovered Skeeve and Aahz in Robert Asprin's Myth Adventures series. So when I stumbled across this ...

I apologise in advance for keeping this brief, life is getting in the way of full reviews. My initial reaction is ehh... That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did. Just that it was a little overwhelming in parts, especially for the first book in a long and winding series. Maybe I just...

I don't know what I was expecting from Discworld, but I grew up on Douglas Adams and Robert Asprin (and the occasional Xanth novel), and this feels like more of the same. I probably would have adored this as a teenager and obsessively collected the whole series. As an adult I find it mildly entertai...
