I bought this book a number of years ago on account of it being on sale and therefore, cheap & affordable. Of course, I have seen the movie and was, therefore, curious about the actual story. Truly generous men are always ready to feel compassion when their enemy’s misfortune exceeds the bounds of their hatred.Amazing story. I should have read it years ago when my mom told me I should.

Very well written, with many unforgettable characters such as Edmond Dantès, Luigi Vampa, Noirtier de Villefort the old revolutionary and Eugénie Danglars the proto-feminist.
