I love a good mystery, and I really liked this one. It was a bit slow yet still engaging. I didn't guess the culprit right but the truth was believable though a little complicated. The best part was the relatable, fleshed-out main characters, Strike and Robin. Looking forward to the second book.

Just a short ramble: To me the obvious question reading this book was whether knowing who wrote it made a difference to my enjoyment of The Cuckoo's Calling. I really liked the writing. The dialogues were crisp, the descriptions to the point. There were some marvelous scenes that just really c...

I enjoyed this book. Crime novels, mysteries or thrillers of any sort don't tend to stay with me long after I've put the book down, and I feel Cuckoo's Calling will be no exception. The characters were all relatively interesting. Cormoran and Robin were both endearing and easy to read and attach t...

This was a well written mystery, in which the 'who done it' was fairly obvious, but it was the motive or the why, that kept me reading to the very end. I really liked the characters of Strike and Robin the best. They were interesting and fully developed. I also liked that the story was told mostly i...

This is one of those rare books that moves as slow as glaciers and yet keeps my attention. The only other mystery book that was as enjoyable and yet so dense was Stieg Larsson's books. In fact, I had the "Stalker Song" in my head while reading this. You know, "Every breath you take, every conversati...

I really enjoyed the Cuckoo's calling despite a few problems. My first main problem was I figured out the ending maybe 70 pages in. Also...

I absolutely loved it. I'm so glad I finally broke down and read it. I have not read any of JK Rowling's work outside of the Harry Potter series because I didn't want to chance hating it and breaking the spell or ruining the magic of Harry Potter for me. (See what I did there? Ha ha!) So it took a c...
