Definitely had a little trouble with this one at the start and thought it would only get two stars. By the end things started to go smoother and make more sense. Will most likely still continue with the series. Still definitely LOVE Stephen King anyway.
I'm only a third of the way through this so far but I'm having a hard time continuing. The /protagonist/ just raped a woman with the barrel of a pistol (aborting her child in the process) and nobody seems to care about this. You can't have a /protagonist/ who's a rapist. You just can't. Anti-heroes ...
The Gunslinger A.K.A Roland of Gilead is the story of the gunslinger and his quest to catch the man in black. The story takes place in an alternate universe type of place that is somewhat like the American Old West.Do not read below if you don't want this twisting tale ruined for you!!!As Roland trav...
Gloriously moody and atmospheric! The Gunslinger is high plains, lonely traveler, John Wayne-in-a-post apocalyptic dystopia goodness. With a survivalist main character and a dependent boy at his side, fighting mutants and what were human beings against all that wealth of stark nothingness for scenery...

Actually, not so much a review as a fan's recommendation. The first time I read this, I was 13 and firmly planted in the mythical land of black and whi...
From the Beginning to The Gunslinger and the Man in BlackThis review could easily bump up to 5 stars once I understand the full story, but to reach that point would require a massive undertaking--seven more novels follow this one. King is, in my mind, not a writer who creates the kind of book one ca...
