A story that provoked mixed feelings in me... Told in a deceptively calm and dispassionate voice, The Descendants ends up portraying a tsunami of emotions. I approached it curiously, but without great expectations. Honestly I tend to ignore books that come labeled as "Best Books of this and t...

I never considered reading The Decendents. I had seen the movie and while I enjoyed it...I didn't love it enough to bother with the book. Way too many other books I wanted to read. I added this book to my to-read shelf after having seen the movie, which I really enjoyed. As it turns out, the book is almost identical to the movie, so while it's decently written, I think I prefer the 2-hour movie version to the 9-hour audiobook version.

Lots of times I've seen movies that were of books I had previously read, but this is the first time I did it backwards (I think). I saw this on the ebookshelf the week before we left for vacation and I was looking for beach reads and thought, why not. Then, I didn't end up reading as much on my tr...
