I'm not sure whether to give this novel a 2 or 3 star rating. I really like the novel approach where you pretty much know who the perpetrators of the crime are but have to figure out the how and wonder whether they will get away with it.In the two novels I've read in this series so far, the murders...

Although the book has been hyped as a thriller, I found the thriller part pretty simple. Frankly speaking there are far better thriller available in the market. So, as far as the THRILLER part of the book goes, I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5.Now comes the twist. There also happens to be a tragic...

Now I remember what is my issue with this book. Before that, I shall make myself clear that I watched the movie before reading this book. I had the pdf format of this novel before and threw it away like a boss. Only after I watched that movie, I read the book. Clear? Now, I'm rereading it. It's my h...

I just finished this, then scoffed out loud and said "Whatever". I'm serious. There's no one else in the flat! The story is blah, and I recognised a number of flaws in the writing from my own experience writing a novel this year (which I learned about and took out of my own book just to be clear! Oop...

Ended up really enjoying this psychological suspense story set in Japan even though narrator David Pittu's rather bland American accent really did not fit the material.

What attracted me to this book was the quote on its cover “The Japanese Stieg Larsson – The Times”. I have had the opportunity to read only one of Stieg Larsson’s works and I absolutely LOVED it! So when this book came up on BlogAdda’s Review list, I knew I just had to apply for it. So I did and am ...

Yasuko divorced her abusive ex-husband, but that hasn't stopped him from finding out where she's living, and harassing her and her teenaged daughter. One night he ends up dead on Yusuko's apartment floor. Their neighbour knows what they've done and quickly devises a plan to cover up what really happ...

Ahhhh excellent. The final twist was pretty much what I expected but that did not detract from the pleasure of reading in the least. Hoping for more Kusanagi & Yukawa novels to be translated in the future!

This is a solid mystery out of Japan, nominated for the 2012 Edgar Awards for 'Best Novel'. This mystery has a bit of a twist in that you know the murder/murderer up front & the rest of the novel is a cat & mouse game between police & suspect(s). Even knowing the set-up from the beginning, Higashino...
