Great characters, solid writing. Why on Earth does the back cover reveal 75% of the plot? A little sad it took me so long to get to this, as my niece may have aged out of it, but maybe I can convince her to read it to her little sister.

We read this book in school, but I also loved all of Zilpha Keatley-Snyder's work, esp the Great Stanley Kidnapping Case. A few years ago I heard her speak at my public library, and she was just wonderful, very warm and funny.
I really enjoyed this book when I was little. I remember little about it now, but I hope to own a copy to pass on to my daughter in a few years.
