An open ending can be such a beautiful idea when an author wants to create a certain thoughtful atmosphere, and to raise several philosophical questions in the readers mind. However I do not consider such an ending suitable for a children's book series, consisting of 13 books all revolving around th...

The 13th chapter (not the 14th chapter) of the 13th book did much to redeem this series. I enjoyed the series as a whole, despite its many flaws i.e. needless adherence to formula, repetitiveness, shameless "tricks" employed near the end of the series to increase page count.

*SIGH* What a sad end to a depressing series. I'm not even going to bother giving a review at all.
