Excerpt:
“You're harboring an angel?” the new man exclaimed (to which Darachiel shivered and suddenly felt much more alert and somehow vulnerable). He made sure to only keep the door cracked open just wide enough for him to peek out.
“Keep your voice down, Myles,” Julian smoothly interjected while sipping some water from a glass with a chip in it. “He's sleeping.”
“I don't give a flying fuck if he's sleeping,” Myles retorted, though cast a quick glance to the door. “Do you realize how risky it is to have him here? How unheard of it is? Demons could be raining down upon us even as we speak!”
“But they're not.”
“No, not now, but give them time.”
Julian just shook his head and tried offering Myles some food, although Myles refused. Darachiel knew that sharing food between humans was often seen as a sign of friendship. Yet, the look that was slowly dawning on Myles face began to make Darachiel feel nervous.
“Julian,” Myles began as he stepped over to the table and placed his palms down against the wood, “we could become rich.”
