Now an old lady, Nell travels to England to discover the truth about her parentage. Her quest leads her to Cornwall, and to a beautiful estate called Blackhurst Manor, which had been owned by the Mountrachet family. What has prompted Nell's journey after all these years?

On Nell's death, her granddaughter, Cassandra, comes into a surprise inheritance. Cliff Cottage, in the grounds of Blackhurst Manor, is notorious amongst the locals for the secrets it holds - secrets about the doomed Mountrachet family. 5.0 The Forgotten Garden ★★★★★
I loved this story. The structure is a little convoluted, as it follows three storylines in time, slowly unravelling the mystery of a child who was found abandoned on an Australian dock. 3.0 The Forgotten Garden
I've had The Forgotten Garden on my shelf for a long time. I've wanted to read it, but it's just so LONG. I finally decided to tackle it so it would stop haunting me from the bookshelf. There is no denying that Morton can write beautifully. But, the book was so LONG. It wasn't only that it was ove...

4.0 The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
I had quite a lot of fun getting lost in this mystery of an enchanting, abandoned garden. There are three eras portrayed in the book, but the most interesting part for me is the one set in early 20th century England. Some red herrings are sprinkled here and there with a hint of something darker than...

4.0 The Forgotten Garden
I enjoyed this story. The suspense isn't the reader finding out what happened, but in the characters finding it out. Kate Morton's books are easy to read and her characters are all engaging in their own ways. Great story telling.

The novel follows three women in different time periods. Nell is found on a dock in Australia as a 4-year-old in 1913...
