This book was a journey. A story of a man's redemption and of two people whose love spanned the ages. The main character is not someone you would root for despite being the victim of a horrific accident that burns and maims him. But then you (and he) meet Marianne, his supposed soul mate and a br...

This book wrecked me.The unique story is at once a sweeping epic spanning 700+ years and an intimate look at beautiful vignettes of metaphysically connected lovers.A car accident leaves our narrator (note that we never know his name) horrifically burned and in a hospital bed for months, during which...

Adult book that my Comp teacher recommended to me for a paper I was writing. Did not get to reading it in time for the assignment, but will read it now.

I give it 3.5 stars.. It had a great start but a very slow middle. Then it picked up after I read 90% of the book. It is well written and researched, which I appreciate but at one point I just wanted to giveup on reading it because I kept waiting for something to happen.

This was a difficult book to rate as the beginning definitely draws you in despite the gruesome details, but the farther into the book I read the less interested I became. Initially I could not figure out what the heck was going on, how would this book turn out? Was Marianne crazy or would this deve...

After reading 59 pages and waiting five months for summoning up enough motivation to go on reading (all my Goodreads friends seem to love the book with abandon - so what's wrong with me?), I have decided to finally put a lid on the case and throw the book out of its designated and by this time sligh...
