Here is an intriguing and sophisticated murder mystery of an upstanding military officer - the base commander's daughter - who's been leading an unsavory double life. When a professional military woman with a pristine reputation is found raped and murdered, a preliminary search turns up certain paraphernalia, and sex toys that point to a scandal of major proportions, The chief investigator is reluctant to take the case when he learns that his partner will be a woman with whom he had a tempestuous affair and an unpleasant parting. But duty calls and intrigue begins when they learn that several top-level people may have been involved with the "golden girl" - and many have wanted her dead. It's Nelson DeMille at his best - exciting, suspenseful and highly provocative.

I was eager to do so, since I am the author of a mystery novel also involving with a military criminal investigator and some of the same themes DeMille covers in ...
Excellent mystery. Kept me up late a few nights. I figured out early on who killed the general's daughter, but DeMille did some skillful misdirecting to make me question my guess for a few hundred pages. Sneaky devil. Some of the characters here are depraved in a way I wouldn't expect from DeMill...
Przeczytałam w kilka dni, nie mając zbyt wiele czasu. Ale ta książka wciąga. Widziałam (oczywiście) wcześniej film i obie wersje przypadły mi do gustu. Książka wciąga na tyle, że jak się ją odkłada, to w głowie jest ostatnio przeczytany fragment i pytanie: co będzie dalej? Trzyma w napięciu od pierw...
I didn't love it. The characters aren't well-developed, and the plot is predictable.
