This was the first Stephen King novel I read and I picked it because it was his shortest. I've read several since then and this isn't his best work. I didn't think that girl would ever get out of the woods.

While on a day hike with her mother and older brother, nine-year-old Trisha McFarland leaves the trail and falls behind. Attempting to catch up, she thinks she is taking a shortcut, and ends up getting lost in the Maine woods. As night falls, she has to rely on her own instincts and what little supp...

This is really fun! I read this while I was camping, and let me tell you, it was a pretty intense experience. I've read an awful lot of Stephen King, and liked most of it. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is not his best, but it's far from his worst. It's got all the usual King themes, but he goes relatively light on the horror and mayhem in this one, since it's essentially just a story about a little girl los...

The baseball. I should have guessed it from the title, but it bothered me very much. I really don't care for every little detail. There is a reason why I didn't do any sports in high school. The rest of the story was okay. Not extraordinarily good, but not that bad either. The end seemed a little st...

Very good but not great Stephen King. I still greatly prefer his horror fiction but this novel about a nine year old girl lost in the woods is still an engrossing story. There is nothing really supernatural in this tale but I like the way the suspense is established thorough the lost girl's own imag...

King had me up until the very end. It's a very strong, realistic, and compelling story of a girl lost in the woods. Until the end.
