As I have noted in my review for The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, I have a hard time reviewing this book and its follow-up as two separate novels. In my mind, they are two halves of a continuous story. In Played With Fire, the reader learns much more about Lisbeth's Salander's background, inclu...

After reading the 1st book I said that I couldn't understand the hype behind this series. Well I can understand it now. This book was outstanding and surprisingly enough its a 5 star book with countless flaws. I won't go into the details of the flaws because that might contain spoilers as well and a...

Whew... Man. This book was intense. In some ways, it was better than the first book in the trilogy, but there were other aspects that I liked more in the first book than this one. In a discussion of the series with a friend, I was told that Lisbeth is hardly in this book at all, and that my friend w...

Number 2 of the Millenium trilogy, and the story is carried forward in a satisfying way, further defining Lisbeth Salander and giving many satisfying elements of closure to her story. But as in the serials of my youthful Saturdays, leaving room for more explication. Very entertaining, a fun read.

Culture imposes on women constant indoctrination of the idea that our vaginas should make us small, weak, and incapable of caring for ourselves or others."A woman could obviously never be a fire fighter, for example." "We couldn't send a woman to do that military job because what if she got her peri...

Once again, Lizbeth does not disappoint.Don’t read this novel (or novels) as an adventure/crime story. It isn’t written that way. It is a police/investigative report filled with unending, dry facts and details. This is how the author meant it to read.As I said in the first book, just sit back and...

Love/hate relationship with this book. Half way through I wanted to put it down and never hear about it again; by the end I was hooked and cried out "NO!" when it ended. Now, instead of taking a break like I normally would, I'm *forced to* start immediately in on the next one. Sigh. Time to start re...

The 2nd half of the book was definitely better than the first half. I did not like this one as much as the 1st in the series though. Too much sexuality that I felt had nothing to do with the story, and way too much Ikea advertising. Not sure if I will bother with the 3rd book. Definitely prefer the ...
