this is one of my all-time favorite books, not so much for the story but for the non-linear story telling and the liquidity of the language.

Possibly the most stressful book I've read in a long time. Deep, mysterious, fascinating, but more than anything very stressful. What a way to end my 2011 reading! It seems like everyone in this book is either oppressive or being oppressed. The language is fascinating and very playful, but in some pa...

It is interesting to read another way that twins, or siblings of any kind, hold a connection that cannot be understood by any other. Furthermore, the inability of the book to give a simple explanation of who the God of Small Things was was masterful and brought a sense of 'unreality' to the book.

Gorgeously written, compelling plot, compelling characters, interesting narrative structure. I loved pretty much everything about this book. It is very tragic. I'm glad it's over. Not that this is a bad book, exactly, but it's not one I could connect to.First, the good. The language is incredible. This is a book of prose poetry, an extended fiction. And honestly, that's really all I could like about it. The problem with poetry, at least in books, is that it ...

They all crossed into forbidden territory. They all tampered with the laws that lay down who should be loved and how. And how much. This quote, more than anything I could write, tells the reader what they will find on the pages of this hauntingly tragic novel. I could tell you the plot points, and...

I finished The God of Small Things yesterday, and decided to sleep on it before I tried to write a review, hoping that might make it clear what I wanted to say.And I still don't know. I don't know what I thought about this book. I didn't love it - it's not one I'll rush out and tell all my friends a...
