The Hare with Amber Eyes is the story of a Jewish family, the Ephrussis; they are wealthy grain merchants turned financiers. A descendant, the well known potter, Edmund de Waal, sets out to trace the history of his legacy, 264 Netsukes, bequeathed to him by his great uncle Iggy. There is no document...
I actually wish there are been more about the art and less about the author finding out things (and seemly reaching conclusions and not telling the read how he got there).Parts of the book are really good, in particular the first half. de Waal's great Uncle Iggie sounds like a man anyone would want...
