The History of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, 1600–2012 is an authoritative scholarly exploration of the struggles and triumphs of the Native Americans who were relegated by the federal government to a small portion of northeast Montana in the late 1880s.
