The history of the Jagiellonian University has many dimensions. It may be perceived as the story of an institution which for the past six centuries has been a permanent part of Polish life. It may also be viewed yhrough the biographies of its students and staff. Another fully warranted approach is to trace its history through the academic achievements of its faculty - through their discoveries, inventions, importsant works, spectacular theories.
