A rather enjoyable read, even if it was at times a tad ridiculous. The only way I think I could have enjoyed this more is if some sections (not many) were rewritten in a less confusing manner, this includes some characters I found impossible to keep track of. The 2nd thing being the main male charac...
Okay, So I must confess, when I started reading this book, I though I was reading an entirely different novel. I was going through of books that I had saved in a 'to-read' list, which I had sorted about genre. Some how this one made it into my m-m steampunk section. However, after my initial surpr...
I did a re-read on this one as it was the "book of the month" in one of my GoodReads groups and it was kinda funny that I had been reading something else (can't remember what for the life of me at the moment) and something in the book made me think of this one so it had been on my mind and what bett...
This is probably the best steampunk I've read. I really enjoyed the world building and tech aspects of it. Sure, the logistics behind how/why the Hordes expanded their empire didn't necessarily make a ton of sense in a conquer-the-world kind of way, but I wasn't in it for realism. I was in it for fu...
How much did I love this book? I loved it all the ways. The world building was amazing. The plot was beautifully done and the hero and heroine had the best kind of back stories. Let's face it though... she had me at the megalodon and the kraken. I've been compulsively been buying her books ever sinc...
I liked this a LOT more than I figured I'd would. The world is fully built, as it were, and Brook is a very visual writer. I liked Mina and The Duke together, but I felt as if it were always from a distance. I could sympathize with each of their situations, but nothing really gutted me. Their attrac...
This series has been on my radar for a while now but, for whatever reason, I did not read it for a very long time. I'd heard really good things about it and one of my favorite authors (Nalini Singh) even said that it was one of her favorite series. With such hype, I was a little afraid that this boo...
I loved the world-building, the supporting characters, and the heroine, Mina. This would have been a four-star from me if the hero, Rhys, the titular Iron Duke, wasn't so unlikable in such a big, stalkery way. I hated him so much I wanted to reach into the book and punch him.Seriously, though... la...
Review posted on Dark Faerie Tales.I originally came about Meljean Brook by receiving a copy of the third book in this series, The Iron Seas. I looked up the synopsis and immediately knew that pirates, zombies, and steampunk all fit within my “MUST READ NOW” category. And since I had the third book,...
Well, I'm not really sure what to say about this one. It was not what I was expecting. The first part of the book is a really quirky fun steampunk themed story; then about halfway through it becomes a straight out bodice ripper. No joke.Don't get me wrong, I sometimes enjoy bodice rippers myself....
