Where There's Will, There's A Way: Book #2 of The Jailer's Son western action adventure series.Cursed or Charmed? When a boy wearing a dress appears in the gulch at the CB ranch and begins playing a fiddle for Maxwell and Will, Max knows something is wrong beyond the obvious. Especially when the boy seems to be his double -- right down to his way of moving from place to place in the blink of an eye. The boy leaves in a traveling show wagon before Max can reach him.Max's Uncle Turtle tells him that the traveling show isn't there to make money off the good citizens of Deadwood, it's there for one reason only: to claim Max. Jaw-Long has something to tell Max, too: Liling, the daughter he hasn't seen for five years, is in town and a performer with the traveling show.Max tells Jaw-Long he'll speak to Liling, but before they can return to the bunkhouse, someone begins firing at them. It's obviously a warning because the gunman could have easily killed them. But why? And who is the warning for? Max, Jaw-Long, or both?A visit to the show the next morning reveals even more secrets. First, Raoul, the boy from the gulch, tells Max that he's his brother. Then George, the nefarious owner of the show, introduces himself as his grandfather and immediately issues a thinly-veiled threat. Max takes Liling with him back to the ranch to see Jaw-Long. The beautiful girl instantly causes trouble by drawing a knife across her throat in front of Jaw-Long. Realizing Liling will only cause more trouble, Max asks a smitten Will to take her back to the show. Not long after, Max is shot by an unseen gunman. Max goes to the traveling show the next morning to get answers and issue an ultimatum of his own. While there, however, he is poisoned, then ferreted away from Deadwood and all he loves.Days blur into weeks. Between the constant beatings and druggings, Max is unable to access his weapons or escape. When Max discovers the real reason George wants him at the show, he realizes he will never be free to leave. One day, a trio of Indians show up and demand goods for passage across their land. One of them looks like Hinto, but his appearance doesn't make sense to Max. Then, in the middle of negotiations, Raoul contradicts George and is shot in the back by George as he rides away. Things unravel in a hurry. As Max ponders stealing a horse, Liling tells him that he has a visitor: Will, and he's barely alive. Now Max has no choice but to stay put until he can find a way to get Will out of harm's way. Compounding Max's troubles, a nemesis has been waiting for an opportunity to end Max's life, and he doesn't care how many others die in the process. Just like the burning fuse on a stick of dynamite, time is running out before Max's eyes. If he isn't careful -- and quick enough -- all will be lost.Scroll up and grab a copy today!
