If you want a streamlined story with characters that are not flat, and a plot that is not all over the place, this is not the book for you....
This is one of those books that despite recognizing some skillful and impressive writing, goes under the category of not-for-me. readable story but didn't quite grab my attention and I didn't really care or get involved in the characters. It did read like how my father tells stories all the same, wandering around and eventually getting to the point.
A great disappointment. Dull. How could a story like this be dull? Must be the writing. It won the Pulitzer -- who chooses these awards anyway? p.s. Today (4/20/12) I just found out.
