I read this story over and over again, wishing it ended differently. Crying and feeling the deepest sorrow. But something always brings me back to it. I can honestly say that no fairy tale ever affected me as deeply as this one did. And yes, I was mad at the fact that Disney changed the ending.
Andersen wrote the saddest fairy tales. He puts the little mermaid through all that torture, and what does she get in the end? She gets turned into sea foam. Dude, way harsh.
