My Rating: 3.0 When I first heard that there was a book coming out called The Madman's Daughter, I just knew I had to get my hands on it. I have a strange obsession with Criminal Minds having watched every single episode of it, and the title alone of The Madman's Daughter made me know that it would ...

Inspired by H.G. Well's classic, The Island of Dr. Moreau, Shepherd weaves a Gothic tale worthy of literary stardom. Loyal to the Victorian Gothic horror, The Madman's Daughter begins in London and leads to an uncharted, remote island where experiments in the interest of science border on the insane...

I'll admit something: I wasn't sure I really wanted to read this book. Why? Because historical fiction bores the crap out of me. I avoid it like the plague. But this book...it didn't bore me. Not one single bit.I was intrigued from the very beginning, and my interest only grew with each page I ...

4.5 stars. This book surprised me so much. I knew it was dark and gritty, but wow. It was insane how dark this novel got. I absolutely loved it. I never even saw half if the twists coming. It kept me so intrigued that I read 85% in one sitting The ending though. Ugh, heartbroken.

There was a lot to love about this dark, creepy tale. As with other books that I've had on my "high-expectations" list, I was a little leery to start this one, but thankfully, the ice/fog day we had on Monday gave me the perfect opportunity to read this in one fell-swoop and it was a great read. And ...

MY THOUGHTSABSOLUTELY LOVED ITJuliet has had her life turned upside down by her father who abandon her mother when she was a young child. Her mother made do, barely surviving until Juliet turned sixteen and then died of consumption. With no other way to survive, one of her father's coworkers at a ...

My goodness, where should I even start when talking about Megan Shepherd's The Madman's Daughter... I suppose I could start by saying that I picked it up while reading Ann Radcliffe's The Italian, which was published in 1797 and is considered one of the very first Gothic thrillers. Reading these two...
