Sequel to The Name of the Star, which was my favorite YA book of 2012 and (surprisingly) totally held up for me when I reread it, prior to the release of this. TMU carries forward a lot of what was enjoyable about its predecessor, but it doesn't stand on its own nearly as well. NOTS did a fantastic ...
Maureen Johnson has a knack for writing deep characters that connect with the reader. Rory is a hilarious protagonist who never takes herself too serious. Even in times of great danger, Rory’s spunky personality brings light to the dark situations. I loved it even more than the original, which is ra...
I liked this sequel, mostly because I like Rory, the plucky protagonist, despite the fact that I wanted to shake her for doing a Very Dumb Thing (but sometimes when we are young, or, to be honest, even when we are old, we do Very Dumb Things, so I'm trying to not let my judginess about her Act Of Du...
DNF - the story and some of the secondary characters seem interesting, but about a third of the way through the mystery hadn't really started and main character Rory just annoyed me, which made it hard to cheer her on and want to read about her adventures.

Her therapist keeps wanting her to talk about what happened, but how can she? How can you tell anyone that you were ...

I love Rory's voice, I love her friends, and precisely because of that, something which happens nearly at the end of...
I just have to get this out of my system... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!After the first book, I wasn't expecting much from this book. It would have been wrong for this one to be as twisted and creepy as the first, it would have been too much. But it stays in the same unique universe. But I wasn't ...
Maureen Johnson is very cruel to leave the end of this book on such a cliff hanger and now I have to wait until next year for the next book. ARRRRGGGGGHHH!
(3.5 stars)This is the sequel to The Name of the Star, which I read a couple of months ago and loved. Here is the Goodreads summary:After her near-fatal run-in with the Jack the Ripper copycat, Rory Devereaux has been living in Bristol under the close watch of her parents. So when her therapist sudd...
