My Review: This review comes much later. I know I must write these as soon as I finish reading the book, to make sure it is still fresh in my mind. This second book in the 6 book series is written the same way the first one is which, in this case, is a good thing. Why? Because whenever a book such a...

This book takes place immediately after the end of The Alchemyst, and once again finds Josh, Sophie, Flamel and Scatty on the run for their lives. Admittedly, some of the details about the first half of this book have escaped me, because I started reading it in May 2011 and just now picked it up aga...

The motley group escape to Paris where Sophie deals with power, it's consequences and the memories she has to deal with; Josh deals with jealousy and trust issues and the others deal variously with other immortals trying to kill them all.Occasionally seemed to drag a little but overall interesting a...

This second book continues the action with a little less reflection and a little more swords-and-sorcery. I would have liked more access to Josh's internal struggle, and more sense that his decision-making posed a dilemma for him in relation to his sister. Nice descriptions of the Paris catacombs.

Good sequel, moved along much faster than volume one. They did not throw as much information at you. Sophie knows what/who the one-handed man is who taught Flamel the secrets of the Codex and Germaine the mastery of fire. Okay. I see some trouble ahead for Josh, who likes his powers a little too muc...
