There his friendship with a local millionaire evolves into a deadly game, one in which reality and fantasy are deliberately manipulated, and Nicholas must fight for his sanity and...

Fascinating and a real page turner. At the same time, I can't help but recognize that this was written by an awfully self-obsessed young man. I don't know how he does it. I don't find Nick particularly appealing, but I still couldn't put the book down. The Collector is better (shock, horror!).

I read this book as a young man and, at the time, felt a great meaning from this story of a narcissist who is made into a human guinea pig, to his ultimate benefit, removing him forever from his shallow, pretentious views on life, women and the world. The book changed me as at the time I was much li...
