I wrote The Maker’s Marriage for three reasons: 1) friends whose marriages are suffering for want of real get-to-the-root-of-it help; and ; 2) the bombardment of bad advice under which they struggle; and 3) looking around and seeing no one more qualified, more in love, more romanced, than my husband John and me.
As people who failed dismally in Marriage #1, and who are radically successful in Marriage #2, John and I know firsthand the consequences of defeat, and of victory, in this most important of endeavors.
The Maker’s Marriage is page after page of real-world advice, motivational and often amusing anecdotes, romance, and inspiration. Those who want a formula, a step-by-step plan to cause their spouses to behave, will be disappointed at first. But anyone who stays with The Maker’s Marriage, enjoying the suggested readings and putting personal agendas aside for the greater good (a lifetime romance!), will be shouting from the rooftops, “Read The Maker’s Marriage!"
Rather then a formulaic how-to book, this book is a guide to restoration and refreshment of marriage, based on the power and freedom purchased on the Cross. Always leading the reader back to the love of Jesus, and how we can be the conduit of that love to our mates, The Maker's Marriage has anecdotal evidence and scriptural proof of God’s great desire to heal hearts and make each marriage a uniquely beautiful work of art.
I believe most married readers will discover they’ve been expecting and accepting far less than is possible in their marriages.
