I was actually somewhat disappointed with The Maze of Bones. I really only picked it up because Rick Riordan wrote it, which you know, I wasn't disappointed by the writing or anything. It was the plot. It just didn't make me want to finish, hence it took me so long. The plot seemed a little overdone...

Amazing Race meets Dan Brown for kids. Unlikely scenarios and escapes, but a fun adventure with some history and geography thrown in.

Not my thing. And Raimi wasn't into it either, UNTIL the last chapter and then he got excited and now we have to read all of them. Evil.

I recommended this to my daughter, who's 10. I will read the rest of the series when she does. Similar to the Mysterious Benedict Society: not as well written, definitely shorter, but packed w/ action. Less likelihood of boredom for the little one.

In addition, several geographical and scientific elements are intro...

Everyone knows I have a juvenile mind, and I also delight in chase scenes- say- through museums in Paris. Or...

I was expecting a little more after having read Riordan's "Percy Jackson" series, but the format of the series itself hinders my enjoyment of the book. The series is spread out over ten books, each by a different author, with clues given in trading cards and on the internet. This makes the series ve...
