While the story got a little Scooby-Doo-ish at the end, it's still a very enjoyable book, and I look forward to reading (or listening to) the rest of the series.
This was recommended by a fellow geek from Ravelry. It combines many of my favourite loves strong female lead, witty banter, sarcasm, Egyptology and Archaeology. This is a highly entertaining book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
This audiobook was perfect for a fun and light distraction. This first book in the series, introduces Amelia Peabody, a Victorian spinster who embarks on a journey to Egypt armed with an excellent classics education, a keen wit and a sturdy parasol. She and her companion, Evelyn, quickly get into ...
The book had great promise between the summary and the first forty pages or so. However, I came into the book expecting an adventure involving the history of Egypt (one of my favorite topics of all time) and ended up getting Victorian England interactions and dilemmas. The tone of the book quickly b...
When I saw this series I just knew I had to give it a try. It combines three things I love: reading fiction, ancient Egypt, and archaeology. So right away this was already appealing. The add in the fact that the author is actually really knowledged in the history of these spectacular place is even b...

So the plot, Amelia and Emerson are digging at Mazaghouna because Emerson pr...

The first person narrative, from Amelia point of view, almost never wave which is a good thing : you only know what Amelia wants yo...

I easily figured out not only the identity but also the motive of the culprit, but even so it didn't dim my ...
