A lot of people really seem to love this book. I noted many good points and am envious of those readers who were unaffected by its plodding pace, but that severely limited its appeal to me. The extraordinarily slow beginning and middle contained details I enjoyed, but they did not build up in such a...

Four misfit children: Reynie Muldoon, the puzzle solver; Kate Wetherall, a MacGuyver-type child who can create anything from nothing; Sticky Washington, who has a photographic memory; and Constance Contraire, an incredibly stubborn child are recruited by Mr. Benedict to infiltrate the Learning Insti...

A sweet, clever book that I just couldn't get into. I have no idea why!

This book was rather like a poorer combination of "When The Tripods Came" and Madeline L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time". This book had slightly more humor but a very similar plot.

A bit annoyed by some parts because it's moving so slowly what with encoding (decoding?) the morse messages and general children being children and bickering among themselves. But on the whole interesting. It's not heart breaking like Lemony Snicket's series but on the other hand the children are mo...

3.5 starsWhen I saw this book (a jacket-less but still brand new copy that was very very very cheap), I didn't hesitate to buy this. I just can't resist buying books, I always have to have books, and since I heard good reviews about this, I decided to read it.However, it took me a long time to like ...

Why??It is so cute and the characters are adorable and clever and I just loved the whole concept of it.I'm looking forward to reading the sequel and hope that it will be as much fun readi...

This review is in response to my sister, Ashley, for scowling at me when I picked up this "baby book".Remember how I didn't really enjoy Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children? Well, I would have loved that story more if it had been more like The Mysterious Benedict Society. This book is witty ...

This was exactly what I needed to read. It was like a soothing balm for my brain and entirely entertaining. And I'm sad it's over. And I love Carson Ellis even more than when I began.I thought it was perfectly paced for its age group, as well. Some parts seemed slow-paced to me as far as figuring ou...

This story reminded me a lot of a mix of Harry Potter and the Roald Dahl books. Really cute story. The characters are greatly developed and the storyline has everything you could hope for. There're little twists and turns that you don't see coming and that have you yell "no way!" while reading the b...
