This is honestly the best book I have ever read! The end made me cry so hard. All the emotions in the book are outstanding and genuine. The struggle to be accepted and fell loved. I think everybody, at one point in their life, would be able to relate to at least one of the characters. The messag...

I recently re-read part of this to help my niece with her homework. It was assigned reading. It's still effective and it's a story that resonates over generations.

I read this in elementary school (grade 7 or 8) and I can't say it was one of my favorites. The plot just didn't appeal to me seeing as how it was about two gangs and stuff. Boys would probably like it more than I did.

It was so sad that (********spoiler alert*******)Johnny died at the end. He was so sweet and he didn't deserve to die the wa...

I decided a couple of months ago that I would read The Outsiders during Banned Books Week this year. The book was a re-read for me--for the first time in decades. One of the things I appreciate about Banned Books Week is that it gives me an excuse to revisit old, long-neglected book friends. That sa...

Classics in literature, by their very nature, must be understood within the context of the times in which the book was written. "The Outsiders" was written at a time when, according to the author, most books for teens were about Mary Jane going to the prom. S.E. Hinton was 16 years old when she wrot...
