I had to read this in high school and really enjoyed it. I found it fast paced and engrossing. This surprised me given the storyline, as this, even back then, wasn't "my type of book."

I can appreciate its groundbreaking qualities, but what was groundbreaking in the '60s isn't anymore, and there are far too many places where the author's teenagerness shows a bit embarrassingly. Doesn't quite hold up under today's standards for YA literature, in my opinion.

A little painful to read as an adult, but I remember being absolutely transported reading this book as an adolescent.

I finally got the book from the library and have just started it. I'm incredibly impressed that this was penned by a kid in high school. It's very well written. There are bits that feel like a teenager wrote it, but that's a good thing because too often lately I've been reading children's books that...

It used to be my favorite favorite favorite book (I had a crush on Ponyboy) and I liked the movie too. I was super into it, I read al...

Ponyboy is a 14 year old g...

I read and began to love this book when I was probably 9 or 10. I've read it many, many times since then. Ironically, since I grew up in Tulsa, I never knew that S.E. Hinton was a Tulsa native, nor that the events and characters in the book were drawn from her experiences as a teenager in my hometow...

I LOVE this book. I don't know why I find it so good. The whole thing just seems so real. It's really exciting, and the characters are all really believable. I like how the story was written by a young author who really knew what she was writing about--she based it partly on the experiences of her f...
