I spent the majority of the time reading this book being angry. Angry at just about every character in this book except Bumby. I couldn't imagine anyone with pride allowing such things to happen to their life. Although it made me angry, it was well written and I can't say that I hated it. On the...

Completely underwhelmed and quite disappointed. I wasn't expecting a thrilling plot, I was ready for the slow pace and somewhat directionless direction, but I thought the writing would be very pretty and make it a joy to read because really isn't that the point of a book like that?

This is a fictional novel based on the facts of Ernest Hemingway and his first wife, "The Paris Wife", Hadley Richardson. It was a good read. I didn't know the biography of Ernest Hemingway and his wives, so coming to this book as a "fresh" reader helped I think. I don't know if I would want to have...

A storybook romance--a match made in heaven--surely it would last a lifetime, but it didn't. This is the story of Ernest Hemingway's first marriage that includes the years of his early writing career. It is told in the first person voice of Hadley, his first wife (first of four). The basic facts, ...

It is a fictionalized account of Ernest Hemingway's first marriage to Elizabeth Hadley Richardson. So, with one google search, you could know what the story of this ...

I thought the first half was slow. I much preferred the second half. I'd really like to be able to give it 3.5 stars.

The book made me so angry at times. Ernest was such an ass and got more so as he became more successful. Hadley was the perfect match for him because she didn't want to be like her mother and became overly dependent and submissive to him. And Pauline committed the ultimate betrayal in stealing he...

I just couldn't get into The Paris Wife. I LOVE this time period so I thought it would be right up my alley. However, I feel this fictionalized version of Ernest and Hadley Hemingway fell flat. There just wasn't much heart.

Meh. Not much actually seems to happen here. Maybe since I don't know much about Hemingway or life in Paris during the time but I found Hadley boring and weak. I didn't feel their romance. I was confused about how they had no money but still managed to have a housekeeper/cook/nanny, months long ...
