Sounded like a very romantic premise, Ernest Hemingway with the great love of his life in Paris...until you realize he married three times after her. Although interesting to see a new perspective on the events that inspired The Sun Also Rises, unfortunately you are also dragged through the careless ...

This book was ok. Nothing really too special for me. I am actually not sure why I decided to read this book. I am not a Hemingway fan. In fact, I do not think that I have ever read anything that Ernest Hemingway wrote. I did hear a lot about Hemingway over the summer when my teen had to read on...

A fictional imagining of Ernest Hemingway's first marriage to Hadley Richardson told from her point of view. The couple meet in Chicago, marry fairly quickly thereafter and then move to Paris where they live through the majority of their short marriage.I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this bo...

While at uni I tried to avoid Hemingway as much as possible, though I distinctly remember at least two exams that had his work as subject. I strongly relied on The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms and some short stories I had read in high school. Later, I tried (and finished!) the never ending ...

I found it irritating. I had a difficult time with the fact that it's a "historical fiction" and trying to sort out what may or may not have actually happened (but perhaps that's just a personal problem). The author would add details or random things into the story or at the end of a chapter that ...

I'm not a huge Hemingway fan, but I thought a glimpse of his start, his life, through the eyes of his first wife (although fictionalized) might be interesting. I so love biography/memoir type reads. Instead, I was bored at ti...

Very well written, though I'm not sure how accurate it is, since I haven't read Hemmingway's "A Moveable Feast". That may be going on my to-read shelf. I may also have to give Hemmingway another shot - I tried and hated For Whom The Bell Tolls in high school, but maybe I just wasn't ready for it.

When I turned the last page and sat down to write the review, I was unsure of where to begin. It was such an easy book to read, and yet, I felt almost sad that it had ended. I wanted more. I had been given a glimpse into the lives of two people struggling to survive and succeed. The pages turned the...

At first I wanted to write this book off as partly dull and disappointing. But then it turned out to be one of those books that in the last few chapters you needed all that detail in the middle to make everything mean that much more.
