Definitely the best thriller I've ever read. Very suspenseful and always keeps you guessing.

“For her passivity in these horizontal moments was diametrically opposed to her demeanor in our vertical moments.” Quote from Jack McEvoy from The Poet.Sentences like that just capture my heart. It could be easily said to be trite or ordinary, maybe, but sometimes I like ordinary, at times, anyway....

Apparently this has a subplot that will make me sick. Stopping this now before I read another word!

It's been a long time since I've read a straight-up police procedural style thriller... and I've missed it. I love the fast paced style, the clues, trying to figure things out along with the characters, seeing inside the system, all of it. I don't know why I don't read more of these, but I think thi...

I enjoyed this book. I found the writing to be very different than Connelly's Bosch series, although both would be considered mysteries. An interesting storyline that keeps the reader interested. There was a lot going on for the reader to keep up with, as well as a lot of characters.

Wow, from the opening line Death is my beat. to the chilling conclusion, this haunting tale grabs you by the scuff of your neck and never lets go. This is my second time reading The Poet and it was like reading it anew since it has been so many years. I think it is a wonderful mystery novel and it is probably my favorite I've read thus far. Connelly has a way with words and plot turns. I absolutely love the twists, especially at the end. Readi...

I have tried to read several Michael Connelly books and they just don't rock my boat. I find Jack McEvoy to be blowhardish and overly dramatic so I will probably just pass on this series and decide Connelly's writing just isn't my cup of tea!
