I committed a cardinal reading sin: I saw the movie before I read this book. To be fair, I was five--so not a lot of four-hundred page books were getting read then anyway. Nevertheless, I went into this story with as fresh a perspective as I could manage. Here is my opinion: the book is better. ...

Can I even classify this as a fantasy? Frankly, the map was unneeded and I barely gave it a glance. Here were some hilarious quotes I dug up:"'I WANT DOMINGO MONTOYA, YOU SON OF A BITCH,' and the six-fingered sword flashed again.""...Fezzik smashed it again and a third time and then he brought his h...

this review may contain spoilers but I'll mostly try to refrain from it - but a bit is necessary. You've been warned.I'm having a little trouble writing a review about this book. I put off reading this book for a long time. The reason is because this is one of my all time favorite movies, and you know that most times the movie isn't like the book. I didn't want the book to change how I saw the movie. I was finally talked into it and I'm really glad I listened. There were...

I may be one of the few people who have never watched the entire movie "The Princess Bride" I always seem to catch it in the beginning (and somehow leave during the middle) or the end. I guess it never interested me enough to seek out the movie and watch the entire thing. That should have been my fi...

Despite hearing many, many people say that they didn't enjoy this book and that I should just stick to the movie, I had really high hopes for it. I was really excited when I re-joined my book club and found this was our selection for April. I am sad to say, that all the naysayers are right. This is ...

This book is wonderful! William Goldman writing was great and I thought that his way of telling the story was very inventive. He did a wonderful job creating the atmosphere and, by his comments as "editor", he was able to create suspense and make the reader eager to read on (at least, I felt that ...

Not really my kind of book. The authors input throughout the story kind of ruined the story for me. I realize that that was part of the satire of the story but it just annoyed me.

Good in a way, but mainly disappointing. I just liked the main story, rather than the jiggerypockery of his own thoughts and whatever.
