In Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett the Death of Discworld finds himself out of a job when the powers that be fire him for developing a personality. Death is now mortal and must live out the rest of his numbered days among humans until the new Death arrives to take him away. With the Disc temporarily w...

He's done it again. My favourite of all of the Discworld novels.Death is a fascinating character, and seeing his strain of humanity just makes him all the more so.Reaper Man is HILARIOUS. Death is so awkward, so unsure of himself in the realm of the living. And when your time is running out, you want...

I really liked this one, and seeing Death coping with early retirement -- not to mention Calvados -- is a hoot. Not to mention everything becoming very confused when Death isn't about any more. Not to mention one scene that made me cry. Some undead, literary allusions and the like add some great mom...

In what series (of books, movies... whatever) is Death more loveable! When I first started buying Discworld novels, I would flip through them in the store, looking for the CAPS of Death's speech... those were my first purchases. Of course, I haven't been let down by the others, either.

There must be something very wrong with me, my top two favourite Pratchett's both feature Death... The reality auditors (like auditors everywhere) have a distorted sense of the essentials - they decide Death is inefficient because he has a personality - something that they lack. So he is retired, wi...

I decided to read one of the Discworld books as a much needed break after finishing King's Dark Tower series and am I ever glad I did. Not only did I require a much needed laugh but I'm finding I prefer Pratchett's version of world bearing turtles. To my delight this story is also about Death. I'm no...

It's fitting that I finished this book on Easter morning, I think. It's all about life and death, and Death IN CAPITAL LETTERS, and a wizard named Windle Poons. Windle Poons has just died, but since Death has been forced to retire (got too interested in his crops, developed a personality), Windle ...
