The dangerous thing about writing historical fiction is that you are confined by the events that took place during the time period you have chosen. Sure, the author can make choices as to the personal stories of her characters (depending on how well known they were) but they are often forced to des...

After seemingly endless starts and stops when it came to reading this book I have finally finished it! Still unsure of how to voice my feeling towards Margaret Beaufort though. After reading several books written in third person I was taken aback by the first person narrative of this book. Loved this book from start to finish. A ruthless ambitious woman who startles and entertains. History, treachery, barbery, vanity. Wonderful, wonderful tale.

I am so into this time period. The War of the Roses and the Tudor period are so interesting. I suggest you read The White Queen before reading this one. There are mentions of that book in this book. It was very hard to find the chronological order of these books.

I guess for what she accomplished as a women in her time was to say the least, incredible and for that reason ...

This was surprisingly good. I didn't realize it was the second in a series, but I don't think I lost too much by not having read The White Queen first.

Yet another winner by Phillipa Gregory. Not my favorite by any means, but one that really kept my interest.
