To be totally honest in my review, I read this book extremely quick for what it should have been read and didn't give it the attention it required...Thus, I would take my 3 stars with a grain of salt.

This was an engaging, absorbing, and quick read that I was surprised to find that I really liked. Historical fiction is such a gamble; you never know what you're going to get. I've always found the story of Leah, Rachel, Jacob, and their brood to be fascinating, and I'd forgotten that this story of ...

Just re-read this and enjoyed it once again. I read with interest other GoodReads reviews, and noted that many readers felt that characters/story lines were dropped rather abruptly. While I can appreciate the truth in their critiques, I felt that the abrupt transitions added to the historical vera...

Part of the reason I read books is to enter a world I ...

This well-researched novel paints a vivid picture of life in the Middle East during Biblical times. Following the life of a minor Biblical character, Dinah, Diamant goes far beyond the few brief verses that mention her and creates a fully-fleshed-out character.I particularly liked how the author pre...

What an amazing historical fiction story. Makes Old Testament biblical time come alive.

Unfortunately not as good as I had expected. While it claims to be a retelling of the story of Dinah (Genesis 34), more artistic license has been taken than what I felt comfortable with. Some of the changes I had no problems with, as they added to the story, but others were completely unnecessary an...

I was given this book to read by my Grandma, and started reading it out of politeness to her. I was surprised to find that it was an easy, quick read, and was up all night reading it.
