I don't think I'll be reading the next book in this series. It's nothing really against this book, but something's got to give, since I have so many other series already. I didn't really like the reader for this one. Normally I don't notice the narrator for audiobooks that much, but there were point...
Bored by the whole big battle last section. I had to force myself to get through it. It was like (don't flame me) the fact that I always used to fall asleep during the final Death Star battle sequence in Star Wars. Thing is, up till then (in both that movie and here) I liked the characters. I enjoye...
Prior to even knowing this was a book, I watched the movie. I thought it was pretty good and when I found out this was a book series, I decided to read it because I liked the movie. I'm glad I read the book - you always get more detail in a book - but the writing leaves a lot to be desired. Also,...
This review is also posted at The Bawdy Book Blog.Lackluster, disconnected writing, overdrawn themes…and I just only felt lukewarm for I Am Number Four. What’s with all the hype?John and his Cepan, Henri, traveled to Earth from Lorien to escape the brutal massacre of their race – and their homeworl...

Unt...
Do I really have to explain why this is so bad? The writing is juvenile, the characters are cardboard cutouts and boring, and I don't really care what happens to anyone except the dog. Just not for me. I think I liked the movie better.
As will always be true, the book was better than the movie. There is more character development and foraging out of the plot. If you saw the movie and enjoyed it--or even if you didn't enjoy the movie, the books is a good read. And as cute as the Pettyfer kid is, I could not picture him as John wh...
Reasonable writing, but entirely predictable plot, and unforgivably - the book hints at interesting background reveals but leaves them for the sequel. At least I can watch the movie now ;)
