My initial impressions of The Road were not great. In fact, by page ten or so, I was convinced that I wouldn’t enjoy this book: the prose felt well and truly overcooked and the lack of quotation marks irked me because it added unnecessary confusion to the dialogue. Fortunately, before long, the writ...

Boring! I've watched the movie years ago, maybe that is the reason I found the book extremely tedious!I recommend every body who is planning to read this book, to watch the movie instead! These kinds of books are more interesting when they become movies!

More of a 2.5 star read. I found this very difficult to get into. The writing style just is not for me. The characters not having names made it nearly impossible to connect. There is no character development. The world is a great setting for a post apocalyptic novel, but it just wasn't enough.

I really struggled to get into this book. The writing style is weird and there's no dialogue markers and the author tends to go off on a tangent with florid words that bored me and went right over my head. I'm not a fan of poetry so there were a couple of paragraphs that I just didn't get and skippe...

The Road follows a man and his son (we never learn their names) as they cross an America in the grip of a nuclear winter to reach the sea. This postapocalypse is no Station Eleven, though, bright with the hope of a communal human future: it's not just humanity that's dead but apparently every living...

Horrifying. Disturbing. Heartwrenching. Everything I'd look for in a book dealing with the themes The Road touches heavily on. Easily the best post-apocalyptic book that I've read. Particularly loved how we never learn the characters names and I liked not knowing what caused the end of the world—lef...

The world is covered in ash. Starving and cold, a man and his son travel the road in an apocalyptic wasteland. Along the way they must find food and shelter in order to stay alive and avoid those who would prey on them.I was actually surprised how much I liked this one because it was a bit slow in p...

Let me start by saying...I went into this book not really knowing what I was in for. I picked it because it fit in with a reading challenge I was doing. The first thing to bother me was the really off-putting POV that the whole story was written in. I felt like a perverse stalker. And let me tell you,...

The Road is a dark and uniquely written tale of survival. It kept my attention throughout even though it did get slightly tedious in some parts. It’s nothing more than a man trying to survive with his son in a world that has no structure left. Without a doubt The Road is a depressing story to read,...
