Set in the year 2025 with a ruined economy with mass unemployment, one of the few ways to make some money is through shows hosted on The Games Network. To raise money for his sick daughter and stop his wife prostituting herself, Ben Richards decides to try out, he's selected for The Running Man, th...

I think if I'd read The Running Man around the time of publication, I'd have completely missed King's voice in it. Of all the Bachman books I've read thus far, this one is probably the least like King's usual works for a number of reasons. There are definitely echoes of The Long Walk here, but a lot...

Excellent plot, a great pace and a brilliant ending. I felt for Richards, and his family. I was sad when he was sad, and in the end I feel slightly triumphant, as I imagine he would be. A brilliant book, even though it was over so quickly.

Good dystopian thriller that keeps you reading right till the end. I just read 'The Long Walk' so I thought that this might be a good book to read next by Stephen King. I browsed the shops, Goodreads and amazon half expecting to come across 'The Jogging Men' and was relieved as well as a bit disappo...

WARNING: Do NOT read the author foreward. It totally gives away a climactic ending. Thanks to the GoodReads community for warning me. I feel like I just ran a marathon with a heart condition. As soon as I opened the book, I was swept up in the story and couldn't stop until the fiery, breathless e...

Wow, just wow. It's totally beyond my expectation. I don't love it but I'm really impressed. It is set in a dystopian world (in the US) where there is an obvious line of separation between the rich and the poor. The poor being absolutely trodden, used & abused by the rich & ignorant-middle-class. Ben...

This was a pretty good story, but quite different from what I'd expected. Of course I knew it was a dystopia, and centered around a game-show, but other than that, I didn't have much idea about the story. I've never seen the movie - and looking at IMDB right now, that's probably a good thing - so I ...

It’s the year 2025 and society is very different then what we know today. Unlike those that claim today the United States is the land of the free and that the ultimate “American Dream” is attainable by anyone, the system is now designed to keep those who are below the poverty line to stay just wher...
Konnici na Liriite - Chevalier Du Lys
ReviewI always tried to read Stephen King after all he is considered to be the master of horror. I do not think he is but nevertheless I had to tried. This is the third tried. The fist was The Eyes of the Dragon and the second was Cell. They both were worthy of reading but not that spectacular. I tr...

I never could quite put my finger on the reason I didn't like the Bachman stories as well as those written as King until I listened to the author's note. He says he was an angry young man, and they were angry books. I think this nails it exactly - this is an angry book missing much of the sly humor ...
