Wow. You know you have an eclectic comic series on your hands when Gilbert/G.K. Chesterton makes an appearance, and a near-super-heroic one at that! The portly one knows his chivalry and how to sweep the knee.Sandman Volume 1: Preludes & Nocturnes is really good, but it can't hold a candle to Watchm...

Cheap thrills with patterns in the universe: I ordered this book and [b:Jim Henson's Tale of Sand|11480909|Tale of Sand|Jim Henson|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1344689570s/11480909.jpg|16415882] from SFBC. On receiving the box and flipping open The Doll's House, I see that the first section is title...

4.5 starsEven darker and more twisted than the first, if that's possible, with interconnecting storylines that really pull you into the Sandman's world. Rose is an interesting character, and I hope that she makes more appearances in the next volumes. The "Convention of Collectors" was disgusting, pe...

I love it when a graphic novel really makes me pay attention. Gaiman is such a masterful storyteller.

Now this is more of what I was hoping for. Laugh-out-loud funny, violent, smart, and BIG - Gaiman is a master. We know this now but I'm reminded of it again by this collection. This is where the story kicks in, where the characters begin to come out, and where the universe begins to expand at the...

I liked it. It was a lot creepier and more gruesome than Volume 6 (I'm not reading them in order) but good, nonetheless. Nice to see Shakespeare make an appearance in this volume!

Wow. Much better than book one, which wasn't too shabby either. The intertwining of the stories reveals a huge arc of imagination. Really spectacular. It was a little dodgy on the Kindle Fire. I had to revert to my daughter's hardcopy for a few pages. Old age, can't see anymore.

I think this might be my favorite volume. The recurring themes--glass hearts, Red Riding Hood, the maiden/mother/crone image, dolls--are great, and it contains two of my favorite single issues in all of Sandman: "Tales in the Sand" and "Men of Good Fortune."This is the re-colored edition, and it's g...

This is a graphic novel that has all the potential to make me obsessed with it. It has everything: an engaging plot, interesting characters, great art, and a story that transcends the boundaries of paper. Of course, it could all go downhill from here, but from what little I know about the rest of th...
