UGH! This book was awful mostly because of the completely repugnant heroine(s). Amy is as silly, mature, and self-absorbed as a 13 year old. We are meant to believe that she is intelligent because she's read historical books in there original language but she must of used up her entire allotment o...

I started off really enjoying this book - but then the historical story line got a bit to "romance" for me and I struggled to finish it. Ended up leaving it in my hotel room - something I never do.

I quite liked this book. It's somewhat of a mish-mash of genres - chick lit, history, spy, romance all rolled into one book. I wasn't too keen on the back and forth between modern day and 1800s England/France at first. The present storyline just wasn't as interesting as the Pink Carnation story th...

I really didn't care for this book. I don't think it was because the book was a poorly written book, though. I just think the subject matter nor the writing style tickled my fancy. I may try another one to see if it was just the book as I know a number of people who have read this series and loved i...

I thought that this was a very entertaining and enjoyable romance. I loved the Napoleonic France setting for most of the book. The modern day inclusions were also fun. I look forward to the rest of the series and want to see if Eloise and Colin develop a relationship.

This book was pretty predictable to me. I easily figured out who the Pink Carnation was and it seemed obvious from the beginning that this would turn out to be happily ever after. It isn't a BAD book, per se, but it isn't anything great either. Quick read and very descriptive with the love scenes th...

Book #1 in the Pink Carnation seriesAn entertaining, if light, riff on the theme of the Scarlet Pimpernel series by Baroness Orczy. Modern day scholar finds clues about a mysterious rescuer and spy during the French Terror; secret letters and the like tell the real story. Fun, but not too serious R...

The constant back-and-forth between different times really annoyed and distracted me from the story line. I was very tempted to skip the present-day chapters each time they appeared. Can you tell which bits I didn't like?Nevertheless, The Pink Carnation did hold my interest. I read it to the end and...

I found this book to be a very good--but not perfect--start to this series. It's so much fun to read that those imperfections ended up not mattering much to me at all. I thought it was highly entertaining, and at times laugh-out-loud funny. I liked the book-within-a-book premise, and though...

The problem I had with this book was that I had too high expectation...I expected Scarlet Pimpernel...I expected Possession...It didn't close to either of them! It's purely chick lit ~ from the blurb of the book, I expected the 'history' bit to be diary entries / letters (like Possession) but it's n...
