Having just finished this absolutely fantastic book, I cannot, nor will I ever be able to accurately detail how much I love this book. I have simultaneously reviewed my whole life, my loves, my regrets, and my failings and have come back feeling as if this singular author has not only bared his own...

At first I thought, oh well, that was somewhat predictable. Well-written story of an unassuming man named Anthony Webster who gets a wake-up call from the past. We get a few interesting twists and details as memory unfolds and repressed scenes relating to Anthony's youthful romance with Veronica com...

What this book seems to show is that we certainly leave marks on people's lives, and not always are the best ones.

A tale about aging and the pitfalls of memory filled with exquisite prose. Barnes has crafted a philosophical novel that packs an emotional punch at the end. The Sense of an Ending is not a long novel, but it will stick with you long after you have finished it.

It was very difficult for me to give this book a 3-stars rating and NOT enlist it in my 'cherished' shelf, the story itself being the main reason for this. I was debating between 2 and 3 stars for this but stuck with 2 because I liked only the last quarter of the book. The rest drove me absolutely nuts to the point of wanting to throw the thing against the wall, and to do it often. However since I was reading it on the Kindle ... I didn't succumb to th...

i can't honestly say why i liked this book. the main character is pretty much a wanker (to use the british pejorative; but he is also featured masturbating a good bit in the book so it fits there, too) but that's ok. he knows this and sort of tries to fix it but can't, and that's ok, too (probably...

This was a quick read, and mostly satisfying until the end. I have to agree with Kinga's review in that the women in this book come across as absolute enigmas. It's a short read - I finished it in one afternoon - and worth reading. The themes have been done before, but Barnes does them rather wel...
